Am I Covered...

When I borrow a car?

When you have someone's permission to borrow their car, you will be covered by their insurance.

When I loan a car?

When you give permission for someone to borrow your car, your insurance will cover them.

When I rent a car?

You are covered.  Your coverage will be similar to your own policy, including the deductible.

When I buy a new car?

If your insurance is current your new car will almost always be automatically covered with the same limits and coverage you already have on the existing car.

When my insurance premium is late?

Yes.  Usually, a 30-day grace period is given to pay your premium.  If you are late to pay after the grace period, you will be charged for the extra time after the due date.

If I bind new coverage?

If a policy is bound, that means the insurance company promises to cover you.  You will have coverage unless the company finds information contrary to what was available when the policy was bound.  They have the right to change or reject a policy after the fact.  Make sure they have all the facts and you should have your coverage.

When I drive in Mexico?  Canada?

Most policies cover you if you added this provision, but that may not be the most important issue.  And it is probably just for collision.  Particularly in Mexico, you will need proof that you have coverage in Mexico.  It is worth it to get the verification separately just in case.

When I move to a new state?

You are covered, but the coverage will be that of your original state law.  If the new state requires certain coverage you don't have, that could mean trouble.  Your insurance company wants to know where you are garaging your car.  Let us know.
